Strawberry Time

It's the height of the strawberry season where we live, and we haven't gotten out to our favorite farm to pick them yet. But we went out to a nearby strawberry festival to enjoy strawberries in all their forms--fresh off the vine was the best, of course. Just looking at the photo above makes my mouth water!
A vat full of strawberry shortcake fixings--a little too sweet for my taste, but it looks luscious.
The small upstate New York town where the festival was held pulled out all the stops for the event. Many craft and merchandise booths lined the entire downtown area, and a parade wound through the streets. It featured lots and lots of vintage tractors (my son's favorite part), marching bands, horses, twirly girls, many wailing fire engines, and a host of local community groups tossing out candy to festival-goers.

And what small-town festival would be complete without an antique and craft show? And how lucky am I that I was able to drag along the entire family into the hall filled with vintage goodies? This mint green and red display seemed perfectly suited for strawberry season.Since this post is getting VERY long (and my camera battery is dead), I'll have to leave my nice vintage finds for a later post. I'll end with some photos of the gardens and old homes in the historic downtown district.

I wouldn't have minded sipping a strawberry cooler on this porch all afternoon.

What a quaint town you live in! We must be farther along in the seasons than you we've already had strawberries, but now it's full on blueberry season! Don't you love summer. Looking forward to photos of vintage things.
